HP Stream 11 review: Inexpensive but not cheap

Cheap laptops rock. Getting a great laptop for under $400 sounds more like theft than a bargain. Something that cheap means if it breaks, no big deal. And with Wi-Fi pretty much everywhere and cloud services for everything, even if you do actually break it, no data lost. What a world we live in.


Although Apple has gone down to $900 with the cheapest MacBook Air, Google and its partners have brought dozens of Chromebooks priced anywhere from $180 to $400, and it seems like every month there are new, great models.



But Windows? For that price you get a monstrously huge 15-inch laptop with terrible battery life and half-decent performance. For something thin, light, and usable for more than two hours, you need an Ultrabook. And it'll be much more expensive, though there are some great models like the Acer Aspire S7. Read more...
