Weight-sensing electric skateboard tops out at 20 mph

LAS VEGAS— With futuristic self-driving cars and strange skateboard-Segway hybrids, an electric skateboard may seem almost mundane compared to some of the tech-laden wheels rolling around the CES floor.


But electric skateboard company ZBoard hope its next product will appeal to the average commuter, even if they aren't a skater. The company unveiled the second generation lineup of its electric weight-sensing skateboards Tuesday, the ZBoard 2.



The ZBoard2 comes in two models: Blue and Pearl. The 16-pound Blue has a range of 16 miles and recharges in 90 minutes. The Pearl has a slightly bigger battery — its range is 24 miles — and takes two and a half hour to recharge. Both boards have a top speed of 20 mph. Read more...
