LOS ANGELES — With $5.5 billion in 2014 worldwide box office grosses, 20th Century Fox just eclipsed Paramount Pictures to become king of the global box office mountain.
With a mixture of home runs (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Plane of the Apes), doubles and triples (The Fault in Our Stars, The Maze Runner) and plenty of other solid hits (13 movies passed $100 million internationally) Fox took the title from Paramount, which held the record since 2011 (when it had Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol).
