A group of skydivers in New Zealand were well prepared to survive when their plane nosedived into a lake.
Just after midday Wednesday, 13 people who were aboard the light plane jumped out and opened their parachutes moments before it crashed into Lake Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand, police said, according to TVNZ. There are no reported injuries.
Taupo Mayor David Trewavas told the New Zealand Herald the pilot realised a problem at 1300 metres and decided the only option was for those on board to bail out.
"All the precautions were taken and they evacuated the plane safely. The plane then crashed into the lake," he said. Read more...
