Report: Next-generation Samsung Galaxy will ditch Qualcomm chip

Samsung is ditching its chip partner Qualcomm for the next version of the Galaxy S smartphone line, according to a new report


Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm's latest microprocessor offering, overheated during Samsung's tests, anonymous sources told Bloomberg. The Korean company ultimately decided to not use it.



Qualcomm is behind many of the processors we see in non-Apple phones; the Cupertino company uses its own semiconductor hardware instead. The processor is arguably the most important aspect of the experience of using a phone, responsible for the device's power and performance. Read more...
