Protester killed on eve of uprising anniversary amid reported clashes with Egyptian police

Clashes between Egyptian security forces and protesters leading up to the Jan. 25 anniversary of the country's 2011 uprising have turned violent in recent days, with the image of one protester who was allegedly shot by security forces making the rounds online Saturday


Shaimaa al-Sabbagh, a member of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party in her 30s, died on Saturday after allegedly being shot with birdshot fired by local security forces, according to multiple sources.
