Consumers may be increasingly unwilling to, you know, buy music — but maybe they'll be willing to a buy a speaker to stream free music.
Philips unveiled a Spotify-specific speaker at CES on Monday, and it allows users to seamlessly move music from the app to the loudspeaker
So say a user has just walked through the front door — but wait! Her favorite song just started playing on the Spotify app. Not to worry. She can simply press a button on the Philips speaker and it will continue playing the song without missing a note.
Philips' concept is that customers might buy a bunch of these and scatter them throughout their houses to create a "multiroom" experience. In other words, someone could move from the living room, where music is playing from a Spotify speaker, to the kitchen, press play on yet another speaker and continue the music-listening chain.
