Newcastle Ale cheekily goofs on Doritos' 'Crash the Super Bowl' ads

Newcastle Ale, which memorably ambushed last year's Super Bowl with a now-famous ad featuring Anna Kendrick, has set its sights on Doritos' long-running "Crash the Super Bowl" campaign.


The ad includes shameless plugs for the beer at every turn, but also sends up the rote formula for Doritos' crowdsourced Super Bowl ads, which are generally built around a single corny joke. The brand is cheekily playing the ad off as an entrant into an unnamed snack chip contest in an effort to get free press without ponying up the $4.4 million-plus that NBC is demanding for a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl telecast.
