Leatherman to debut a wearable multi-tool this summer

There's a new tool coming for travelers who like to be prepared.


Leatherman Tool Group announced this week that, beginning in the summer, the company will offer a version of its popular multi-tool that can be worn as a bracelet when not in use.



It's called "Tread," and it shows that wearables aren't just popular with technology companies right now.


The bracelet is made of 17-4 stainless steel links. Each link has two or three functional tools, according to the company, giving the entire bracelet 25 usable features.


“The idea originated on a trip to Disneyland with my family,” said Leatherman's Ben Rivera, who was an engineer with the company for 22 years before being named president. “I was stopped at the gate by security for carrying a knife, when what they had actually seen was my Skeletool. I was unwilling to give it up, so they made me take it all the way back to my hotel room." Read more...
