Cancellations bring New York air travel to near standstill

The storm that hit New York City wasn't all that forecasters said it would be, but the impact on air travel in and out of the Northeast still had a significant impact.


Radar images of flights above New York showed air travel at a near standstill in the area Tuesday morning.



A total of 4,666 flights were canceled in and out of the U.S. on Tuesday, according to FlightAware.


The majority of cancellations were at LaGuardia Airport, where 96% of flights were cancelled; Newark Liberty International Airport (93% of flights cancelled); Philadelphia International Airport (89%); John F. Kennedy International AIrport (81%); and Boston's Logan International Airport (85%). About 11% of flights at Chicago O'Hare were cancelled, and 28% at Reagan National. Read more...
