Airbnb announced Monday that approximately 550,000 travelers rang in the new year in about 20,000 cities around the globe at rentals booked through the site.
That's impressive growth for the company, now valued at upwards of $13 billion, which had only 2,000 travelers using the service on New Year's Eve five years ago.
The company is marking the occasion with an interactive map, that will be updated daily to show growth, milestones and activity of hosts and guests
Activity from the company's recent marketing campaign, called One Less Stranger, is also included. A spokesperson told Mashable the map shows real-time activity of its pay-it-forward "social challenge." Read more...
