Don't expect the rift between New York Police Department officers and Mayor Bill de Blasio to end soon.
That was the message delivered by NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton when he appeared on NBC's Meet the Press to discuss the ongoing tension between the two parties, as well as between police and protesters.
"I think it’s probably a rift that is going to go on for a while longer," Bratton said.
Bratton maintained a level tone when addressing a question from Meet the Press host Chuck Todd about the tension, saying that numerous elements beyond race relations are in play, including labor negotiations.
